10 Great Netflix Movies to Watch While Stuck at Home

Many of us are still stuck at home during these times, so what better way to keep entertained than to watch a movie? Here is a list of 10 great movies to watch on Netflix that will be sure to keep you entertained at home. From documentaries to action movies this list will have a movie for you. 

13th, which is named after the 13th amendment is an empowering documentary about the racial inequality United States prison system. Starring Angela Davis and Michelle Alexander, this documentary shows the horrifying truth about the US prison system and why African Americans make up the majority of imprisoned people. 

Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a comedic rendition of the horrors of the Dark ages tells the story of King Arthur and his knights’ adventure to find the Holy Grail. While on this expedition they encounter many hilariously crazy obstacles. With John Cleese and Terry Gillam this movie will be sure to make you laugh. 

Lady Bird is a unique coming of age movie, starring Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalamet, is well written and well performed. Christine McPherson, who goes by Lady Bird, is a high school senior in Sacramento and is trying to navigate the struggles of friendship, romance, and self-discovery while dreaming of fleeing and going to college on the East Coast. 

Da 5 bloods, starring Chadwick Boseman and Delroy Lindo, tells the horrors of the Vietnam War. Many years after the Vietnam War is over, four African American soldiers return to the jungles they once fought in, searching for the body of their fallen commander and gold he helped them hide. 

Back to the Future, a 1980’s classic sci-fi movie, never gets old. When teen Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) gets sent back to the 50’s by his crazy scientist friend, Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd). He meets his parents and has to make sure they still fall in love or else he won’t exist. At the same time, Marty must get back to reality to save Doc Brown.   

Athlete A is a tragic documentary about USA gymnastics’ sexually abusive team doctor Larry Nassar. News broke from The Indianapolis Star that Nassar had sexually abused many underage gymnasts. Many survivors such as Maggie Nichols and Jennifer Sey were discouraged to speak up about their experiences but slowly began to open up when realizing others went through similar things. This is a very powerful documentary about sexual abuse is and how devastating it is to many women and young girls. 

The Notebook is a romance movie about young love. In the 1940s a poor mill boy Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling) and rich girl Allie Hamilton (Rachel McAdams), fall in love, but her parents don’t approve of a poor boy. Their short-lived romance is over when Noah is sent to serve in WWII.  While he’s at war Allie falls for another man, and years later when Noah comes back to town on the brink of Allie’s marriage, their short-lived romance might not be over yet. 

Django Unchained, starring Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio, is a Western drama filled with action, suspense, and adventure. Two years before the American Civil War, Django, a slave, ends up partnering with Dr. King Shultz, a German bounty hunter, to track down two of the most wanted slave owners, the Brittle Brothers. Dr. Shultz frees Django from slavery and they keep working together to catch Southern criminals. They find themselves on the plantation of Calvin Candie where Django thinks his long-lost wife is. 

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, is a teen romance movie that will capture your heart.  Lara Jean (Lana Condor) writes love letters when she has a crush on someone so bad that she doesn’t know what else to do. Lara Jean has a total of five love letters to all of the boys she’s loved before. When her letters get sent out she goes from the quiet girl in high school to the most talked about.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is the first movie in the classic action/adventure series Indiana Jones. Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) is hired by two US intelligence agents to find the Ark of Covenant before the Nazis do. Jones must face his fears and crazy risks to try and get to the Ark of Covenant first.
